I just joined — where do I start?

Welcome to your shelter! Head to the Freedom Becomes You course from your Dashboard. It's designed to walk you through the fundamentals of The Work and help you begin your inquiry journey.
What is "The Work" and how does Humbrella use it?

The Work is Byron Katie's method of self-inquiry — four questions and a turnaround that help you examine stressful thoughts. Humbrella guides you through this process with the Freedom Becomes You course, the Emotional Weather tools, interactive worksheets, and Shelter Cards that track your journey. We don't replace Katie's teaching — we're a companion to it.
What is the Emotional Weather tool?

The Emotional Weather system helps you identify and understand your emotions using a weather metaphor. Each emotion is a "storm" — anger is a thunderstorm, grief is a still fog, and so on. You'll explore intensity levels, body sensations, and eventually use this awareness as part of your inquiry practice.
What are Shelter Cards?

Shelter Cards are snapshots of your inquiry journey — they capture the stressful thought you questioned, your emotional weather at the time, the positive feelings you discovered, and the turnarounds you found. Over time, they become a personal record of your growth.

How do I upgrade my membership?

Visit the Membership page to see all available tiers and upgrade instantly. Your new features become available right away, and billing adjusts automatically.
How do I update my payment method or cancel?

You can manage your billing details, view invoices, and make changes to your subscription from your Dashboard under the Membership tab. If you need help with anything billing-related, use the contact form below and we'll sort it out personally.
I have a promo code — where do I enter it?

Promo codes are entered during checkout on the Stripe payment page. When you select a membership tier, you'll see a field to enter your code before completing payment. If you have trouble, send us a message below and we'll help.
Using the Platform
What is Ask Questions?

Ask Questions is a Q&A feature where you can submit real situations from your life and have them met with honest inquiry — the four questions and turnarounds applied by an experienced practitioner. It's available to all enrolled members. With your permission, anonymized Q&As may be shared in the community library to help others.
What is Gaia?

Gaia is an AI companion available to Held tier members. Gaia can help you explore your thoughts, guide you through inquiry exercises, and offer perspective — anytime, day or night. Gaia is currently in preview and growing smarter with time.
Why can't I access certain content?

Some content is available at higher membership tiers. You'll see a badge on each piece of content showing which tier it belongs to. If something is locked, it means it's part of a tier above your current membership. You can upgrade anytime to unlock more.
Can I use Humbrella on my phone?

Yes! Humbrella is designed to work beautifully on mobile browsers. Open it in Safari or Chrome on your phone and it works just like an app. We're also working on dedicated mobile apps for the future.
Privacy & Safety
Is my personal information safe?

Absolutely. Privacy is built into every layer of Humbrella. We don't log IP addresses, we don't track your browsing behavior, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone. Your inquiry journey is yours alone. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Can other members see my activity?

You control your visibility. Community features include a hybrid anonymity option — you can participate fully while keeping your identity private. Your Shelter Cards, inquiry history, and personal data are never visible to other members unless you explicitly choose to share.
