Course 1 β Lesson 1: Energy Centers β Introduction & First Chakra (Root)
We are, at our most basic level, electromagnetic energy. Energy runs through every part of the body, and it responds to everything β wonderful news lifts it, a difficult conversation drops it, a stressful thought tightens it. Once a person truly recognizes this, something powerful becomes possible: those energy fields can be intentionally changed.
Over the next seven lessons, we will explore the seven major energy centers in the body β sometimes called chakras. Each one governs a different part of how a person experiences life, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Understanding where energy is flowing and where it is blocked is the first step toward doing something about it.
It begins here, at the root.
The first energy center is the root chakra. The color is red, the element is Earth, and it sits at the base of the spine. This center governs the most fundamental things in life β survival, security, belonging. Childhood, family, basic needs being met or not met. Everything a person takes in during those early years lives in this energy center.
Children come into this world joyful and present. They live in the moment. When they get upset, they move through the feeling quickly. But as they grow, children begin absorbing the energy of the people around them. Fear, criticism, scarcity β these accumulate over time. And eventually, those absorbed patterns start making decisions on a person's behalf. Decisions rooted in anxiety, in not feeling enough, in desperately wanting to be accepted.
The evidence of that negative energy shows up in feelings and emotions β shame, dread, helplessness, constant worry. These are not character flaws. They are signals pointing directly to where the root chakra is blocked. Learning to name those feelings precisely β not just "I feel bad" but "I feel unsupported" or "I feel unsafe" β is how a person begins to locate the real source of what is weighing them down.
The body responds to that blocked energy too. The adrenal glands, the lower back, the legs, the immune system β all connected to this center. A person living in constant survival mode is running on emergency fuel every day. Chronic stress held in the root does not stay emotional. Lower back pain, fatigue, frequent illness β the body absorbs what the mind refuses to release.
This energy center is probably the most turbulent of all seven. And in the modern world, the challenge has grown. People are no longer just navigating family and work. They are absorbing social media, news from other countries, conflict they have no connection to. All of that lands in the root. Managing what comes in is essential. Looking at difficult things is one thing. Letting them take up permanent residence is another.
And here is where the work begins. The fears, the beliefs absorbed in childhood β "I am not enough," "I have to earn love," "the world is not safe" β these are not permanent conditions. They are thoughts. And every one of them can be written down, looked at honestly, and questioned.
That is what this course is about. Not just understanding the energy centers, but learning to notice the specific beliefs that keep them closed β and discovering that those beliefs do not have to run the show.
