Course 1 - Lesson 7 - Seventh Energy Center
The seventh energy center is the crown chakra. The color is violet, the element is Thought, and it sits at the very top of the head â the cerebral cortex. This is the center of connection with something larger than ourselves.
Where the third eye was about personal clarity and intuition, the crown chakra moves beyond the personal altogether. This is where selflessness lives. A person begins to ask not just "what do I want?" but "what am I here for?" There is a quiet knowing that life has a purpose â even when that purpose cannot be fully explained.
When this center is open, something remarkable happens.
The still, quiet voice becomes steady and trustworthy. A person can live in the world â with all of its difficulty and suffering â and remain compassionate without being crushed by it. They stop carrying the weight of everything on their shoulders, not because they have stopped caring, but because they understand that not everything needs to be controlled or fixed.
That is serenity. Not the absence of hard things, but the ability to be present with them without losing footing.
When the crown chakra is open, love expands beyond the people who are easy to love. It reaches toward everyone â even people who were once difficult to be around. Judgment softens.
A person starts seeing others at their core rather than at their worst. There are people walking this earth who live from this center so fully that simply being near them changes something in the room. They carry a presence that opens something in the people around them.
When this center is closed, the experience is the opposite. There is a deep confusion about purpose. Spiritual questions feel unanswerable and heavy rather than inviting. A person drifts â disconnected from meaning, from direction, from the sense that their life is part of something larger. That is a lonely and difficult place to live.
Most people do not live in the crown chakra permanently. But glimpses happen â moments of unexpected peace, a sudden knowing that everything is connected, an experience of love that has no conditions attached to it. Those glimpses are real, and they point toward something worth pursuing.
And here, at the top of the energy system, inquiry comes full circle. The thoughts that close the crown are some of the deepest beliefs a person carries. "There is no purpose to any of this." "I am completely alone." "Nothing I do matters." These are heavy thoughts â and they feel absolutely true when they go unexamined. But they are still thoughts. And any thought can be questioned.
When a person sits with those beliefs and meets them honestly â is it true? can I absolutely know that it is true? â the weight begins to lift. Not because someone handed them an answer, but because they stopped believing something that was never as solid as it seemed.
