Course 1 â Lesson 3: Energy Centers â Third Chakra (Solar Plexus)
The third energy center is the solar plexus chakra. The color is yellow, the element is Fire, and it sits in the upper abdomen between the navel and the bottom of the rib cage. This is the center of personal power.
Where the sacral chakra was about discovering who we are, the solar plexus is about what we do with that knowledge. Self-confidence, self-esteem, willpower, the ability to set boundaries and hold them. This is the engine that moves a person from wanting something to actually pursuing it.
When this center is open, there is a quiet confidence that doesn't need to announce itself. Decisions feel clear. Boundaries hold without guilt. Emotions stay steady because there is a strong inner foundation underneath them.
When it's blocked, the picture changes. Low self-esteem becomes the baseline. Fear of rejection keeps a person from speaking up. There is a persistent sense of unworthiness â "this is all I deserve." Anxiety settles into the gut, and that is not a metaphor. The solar plexus sits over one of the body's largest nerve bundles, wired directly into the fight-or-flight response. When we talk about gut feelings, this is where they live.
An overactive solar plexus has its own problems â a need for control, quick anger, perfectionism that looks like ambition but feels like anxiety.
Now, notice something. Every one of these emotional states carries a stressful thought with it. "I'm not good enough." "I can't trust myself." "If I don't control this, everything falls apart." These are not just feelings. They are beliefs. And beliefs can be examined.
The emotions stored in the solar plexus â the fear, the unworthiness, the anger â each one is attached to a thought. Sitting quietly and paying attention to what arises from this center, then writing those thoughts down, is one of the most powerful things a person can do. Once those thoughts are on paper, they can be questioned rather than avoided.
That is how transformation begins â not by forcing confidence, but by examining the beliefs that stand in its way.
